For film buffs, being able to see movies on the big screen again probably feels like a major milestone. The next step? To be in community with fellow film-lovers! The Movies & Critics series at the Arlington Mill Community Center makes it easy to connect with other folks who are fans of cinema.
Every month this summer, the community center has screened a different first-run film for its members. Afterward, guests are invited to stick around and have a discussion with other novice film critics. The conclusions of that discussion are actually published monthly in the Arlington Mill Newsletter in the form of a film review. In June, the group reviewed Westside Story. In July, it was The Tender Bar. Coming up on Thursday, August 18th, you’ll be able to catch a matinee screening of Netflix’s latest blockbuster Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds. The screening begins at 1 p.m. and you’re welcome to slip out before the discussion if you’re just in it for a free movie! But if you are interested in diving deeper into the themes of the film, stay put for the discussion afterward. The event is free to attend for community center members.
